Blanchard Necklace
Blanchard Necklace
A dramatic drop of a necklace paired with sunrise colored old cut gems. They glimmer with their pastel colors contained snug in their bezel settings. I imagine this is a great piece to wear as a statement look or to sit alongside some pearl strands. Another idea is to wear a shorter gold textured chain and make your own festoon type of dramatic look.
She’s named after Sophie Blanchard. In 1805 she was the first woman to pilot a balloon. She spurned a vast audience and even Napoleon had once said she was, “the aeronaut of the official festivals.” King Louis XVIII also referred to her as the, “official aeronaut of the restoration.” This piece represents her pioneering work as an aerial commander of the sky and her artistry and bravery.
