Margie Necklace
Margie Necklace
Have you ever come across gold statement jewelry chains before? I’m not just talking about heft or size. Delicate gold chains can also make quite the fabulous look too! Margie at a distance looks like she’s comprised of pointed daggers. However, up close and personal you can see that the tiny daggers actually make up micro granules of trefoil gold. Each little gold nodule is so important. It either makes up a trefoil bundle border or it comprises up into a sweet daisy.
This chain hails from Portugal, a country that has a unique preference for 19.2k (or 80%) gold. An exceptionally well-made chain. Each little link has its own articulation, with the exception of 4 links which appear to be randomly bundled together.
When I first got this chain, I totally spaced that the hallmarks indicate it is from 1938 – 1984. I had assumed it was an antique due to the styling that is so similar to a Victorian Etruscan revival. I’m reminded that even vintage years also reminisced and treasured the opulence and magic of gold. Her color is also supremely unique, a peachy hue tempered with her higher carat gold.
