From above, this ring felt like I had stumbled across something rare in the wild. The diamond shoulders flint around in the light and the center has this unreal neon life deep beneath the sea. In the side profile it is industrial and those even circles reads very modern. It’s a paradoxical ring, organic + concrete. I see influences of the former eras in here. Art Deco, Art Nouveau, and then the futuristic era. It challenges the narrow concept of what beauty in jewelry should be.

This antique transitional (technically Old European cut) diamond physics simply does not make sense. A lot of fancy colored diamonds will have suppressed fire as they don't have the colorless backdrop to throw rainbows. It also spreads like a 1.7ct and it doesn't sacrifice any performance (I mean look at the videos, this is what she is!) The color is a true golden rod, thanks to the brown it really deepens the yellow. I do see hints of olive green, but it can also be its intense dispersion too. The round shape is also odd for a fancy color, as most fancy diamonds are cut to retain saturation (like ovals or squares) It is one of the most performative diamonds even though there are a bunch of odds stacked up behind it.

Old European cut diamonds were one of the predecessors to the modern brilliant cut diamond. These OECs were popular right around the late 1800s and into the 1900s, thanks to the innovation around the bruting machine. A bridge between the golden and modern age, it was cut specific to the beauty potential of the stone rather than conforming to perfection.
The ring is set in 95% platinum, it is practically pure. It has the marks of being hand crafted, with the diamond tulips on the shoulders. The ring setting was created in 2006, the year of when Time’s Person of the Year was YOU. The time of burgeoning social media, self expression online was all the rage and Twitter was just born. This was likely a heirloom antique diamond created in a custom lux platinum setting born during the era of #tbt. I did make an adjustment to the prong design on this one as it originally suffocated the diamond. I made them a little smaller and also eliminated two unnecessary prongs that were getting in the way of the diamond's fire. It looks like a high end diamond ring and I can't wait for you to cherish this forever.

Condition

Diamond has an indented natural in the pavilion. There are small marks on the gallery to the setting.
