Jewelry in the 1940s was greatly exaggerated in proportions. I've always said, if it looks like Wonder Woman can wear it then it's likely from the Retro era. Creativity was at its peak and jewelers took great artistic license to bring decoration into 3D life. This is a fantastic cocktail ring from this era, designed to be worn in the evening time. It crosses the line with ostentatious, but what I love is that woman who wore jewelry during this time really didn't care what other people think.
In center stage is a vivacious piercing synthetic ruby. A color so supremely vividly red and also so crystal clear. It's pure perfection. Supporting her on the sides are rose cut diamonds twinkling in stair stepped setting perfection with a nice faint milgrain to keep things nice and shiny.
