A highly covetous piece for an advanced collector, an alexandrite diamond ring. Alexandrite is part of the chrysoberyl family. It has a color change effect due to its chromium presence. Around her center she has a streaming flower halo of old cut diamonds around her center and sides. Vera looks like she’s created her own galaxy of star-studded diamond dreams. The bypass design is a strong reminder of the attraction of coming together yet a celebration of independence and individuality.
Alexandrite gems are extremely popular in Japan with men’s jewelry. It’s also been cited a few times online with how masculine the gem is. I however, will disagree. I think there’s nothing more feminine than transformative beauty. When introduced to daylight she turns a mossy green. With indoor or yellow lighting, she turns royal purple. In very dim lighting, I’ve also seen her turn neutral colors such as black and grey. Her pop colors are a perfect choice for someone who wants an extremely dynamic look throughout the day. Her neutral colors bring a seamless integration into your collection.
Her cat eye also has an active appearance. Her cat eye leers incredibly strong with aerial lighting, focused lighting seems to bring up this effect the best. She has one strong parallel line, but as you rotate her around, she gently disperses the effect. Just like a blinking cat eye. There is also a milk and honey effect that’s seen in certain lighting, but please note due to Vera’s color change it is not consistent. Think of as another pleasant surprise and gift with this ring.
Please note, the insurance appraisal refers to this ring as a vintage piece. A jewelry historian assessed and dated this ring to 1900-1910 (Edwardian) with a center stone replacement. The original center stone likely contained a former diamond or maybe even a sapphire. The side stones are also a mix of old mine cuts and old European cuts. Likely they are original to the piece due to the high scarcity of diamonds back then.
